Bolt HQ and Huspy: five months instead of one day
Two companies took the long version: a personalised programme built from scratch and delivered across five months, rather than a training day.
Most of what we run is measured in days. Bolt HQ and Huspy both took the other option: a personalised programme designed from the ground up for their teams and delivered over roughly five months, covering the whole path from first principles through to working implementations.
What five months buys that one day cannot
A single day can teach a team to use a tool well. It cannot change how a department works, because that requires people to try something, get it wrong, and come back with a better question. Those cycles take weeks, not hours, and a one-day format has nowhere to put them.
A long programme is built around those cycles rather than in spite of them. Sessions are spaced so that between them people are doing their normal jobs with the new methods, and each session starts from what actually happened rather than from the next slide.
How a long programme is structured
- A curriculum written for that company rather than assembled from a catalogue
- Sessions spaced across months, with real work happening in between
- Each session opening on what was tried since the last one, including what failed
- The end point is working implementations owned internally, not a certificate
When it is worth it
The long format suits companies where AI is meant to change how several teams work, not just make individuals faster at drafting. If the goal is one department getting better at email, a day is the right size and five months is waste. If the goal is a durable change in how work gets done, a day is not going to do it, and everyone in the room usually knows that by the afternoon.
Key takeaways
- A five-month programme is built around try-fail-return cycles a single day has no room for
- Sessions should open on what was actually tried, not on the next slide
- Choose the long format when several teams need to change how they work
